Girls (and Boys if they choose) in First and Second Grade split their time practicing and playing ball. This is a non-competitive softball environment that meets once a week for practice and on Saturdays for 75 minutes. (practice day will depend on field availability and manager's schedule). The first half of the session is spent practicing ball-playing skills and the second half is spent playing a softball game with the children batting and coaches pitching. Participants receive t-shirt and hat. A softball glove is needed. Each Rookie League team has a manager. For parents willing to help please contact the VBSL to obtain proper certification. Participants must be attending 1st or 2nd Grade to be eligible for this program. Boys or Girls are eligible for this program, however, please note there is a Rookie Baseball Program available as well.
